Call of Duty: Mobile Review

Call of Duty: Mobile offers a comprehensive, console-quality first-person shooter experience, successfully translating the franchise’s signature fast-paced combat to mobile devices. As a free-to-play title, it provides a full suite of gameplay options without an initial purchase. The game is kept fresh and engaging through a seasonal update structure. These “Seasons” are major content drops that occur every few weeks, transforming the experience with a new theme, exclusive battlefields, powerful weapons, and limited-time events. The current season, titled “Primal Reckoning,” introduces a compelling theme that blends wild, untamed natural environments with sleek, futuristic technology, creating a unique visual and gameplay landscape for players to explore.

New Gameplay Features and Arenas

The game is primarily split into two modes: Multiplayer and Battle Royale. In Multiplayer, players compete in team-based matches on various maps. Season 5 adds “Zoo” to the rotation, a new battlefield set in an abandoned zoo. This map offers a mix of combat scenarios, from long-range firefights across the open monorail area to intense close-quarters combat inside old animal enclosures and gift shops. This variety challenges players to adapt their strategies and weapon choices.

This season also adds a new weapon to the arsenal: the VMP. This is a submachine gun (SMG), a type of weapon that excels in short-to-medium range combat due to its high rate of fire. In Battle Royale, a mode where dozens of players fight on a large island to be the last one standing, Season 5 introduces “Buy Stations.” Players can now find cash scattered across the map and use it at these stations to purchase powerful weapons, equipment, and special abilities, adding a new layer of strategy to survival.

Battle Pass and Special Events

Each season features a Battle Pass, which is a progression system that rewards players for playing the game. As players complete matches and gain experience, they unlock tiers of content. The Season 5 Battle Pass includes new character outfits (called Operator skins), such as American Bulldog – Tentacles and Lazarus – Scrim Net, as well as new designs (called blueprints) for many of the game’s weapons. The base version of the new VMP submachine gun can also be unlocked for free by progressing through the pass.

A major highlight of this season is a special collaboration with another popular video game, NieR: Automata. During this limited-time event, players can complete unique challenges to earn exclusive rewards inspired by the world of NieR. This includes character outfits modeled after its iconic android protagonists, 2B and 9S, and unique weapon designs. This crossover offers a substantial amount of fresh content that merges the two distinct game worlds.
